Fire emergency Fiumicino Airport

Rome | Italy

The challenge was to be able to deconstruct, piece by piece, a burnt down wing of the airport, without anyone noticing, without the normal aircraft-passenger traffic at Terminal 3 of an international airport incurring interruptions, without diffusing pollutants resulting from the fire in confined spaces with little room for manoeuvre and worksite times and notice of the construction site of just two hours. The operation was planned by our team in close collaboration with the client and works required the use of remote controlled video assisted robots. In just a month and a half, the situation returned to normal. This project was in the shortlist at the ‘World Demolition Awards’ in 2016.
