The challenge was to demolish a funicular system at an altitude of 2,700 m in the Brescia Alps, in an unspoilt natural environment to be protected. We climbed the mountain as if we were the climbers, ensuring our vehicles with steel cables. This operation in itself took two days. The funicular system overlooked a small lake at the foot of the Presena glacier and was adjacent to the new system already in use. The possibility of manoeuvre was very limited, but we successfully completed the project, thanks to the experience and a patient surgical demolition. This project was in the shortlist for the “Environmental & Recycling” award at the ‘World Demolition Awards’ in 2012.
